Gas engine news from Vietnam
6 July 2016April 6, 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon, a business and industrial center of the south of Vietnam), a seminar was held on the development of a public transport fleet operating on compressed natural gas (CNG) in the region. The event was organized by the Transport Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Hall and the Saigon Transport and Mechanical Corporation Samco.
It was announced at the seminar that from July 1, 2017, all passenger transport of the city will meet the Euro-4 emission standard. 1,680 new buses will be purchased, which, as expected, will create conditions for the growth of investments in mechanical engineering.
At the same time, the meeting participants noted that at present, 2700 buses are involved in Ho Chi Minh City on 137 public transport routes, of which only 137 run on CNG (5%). These are mainly old cars that use diesel fuel and have very poor emissions into the atmosphere.
Ho Chi Minh City, the largest metropolis in southern Vietnam with a population of more than 7.5 million people, is currently experiencing serious transport problems: public transport provides only 10% of the population's needs.
