Venice replaced petrol with olive oil
26 June 2018
In Venice, from the present time, motor ships (vaporettos) began to use olive oil as a fuel, as well as other types of it. According to VistaNews, the local authorities decided to take care of the environment, because the most popular route vaporettos in the region use too much fuel, which pollutes the environment and is not an economical raw material.
In local cafes and restaurants, a considerable amount of used oil is collected, with which many dishes are fried. Such waste is sent for processing, and the city receives supplies of environmentally friendly fuel. The experiment has already begun and will continue until October, according to local project organizers.
After that, the traditional transport of Venice vaporetto can completely eliminate conventional fuel.
