Audi introdused new coupe A5 Sportback g-tron

14 September 2016

On September 9, 2016, Audi introduces the new A5 Sportback coupe as a bivalent g-tron car running on both natural gas (CNG) and petrol.

The Audi A5 g-tron is equipped with a 2.0 TFSI engine that develops 125 kW or 170 hp. power and 270 Nm of torque. CO2 emissions are only 100 grams per kilometer (160.9 g / ml). Audi is the first premium car manufacturer to introduce a B-segment gasoline engine with lower emissions than a comparable diesel engine..

On a standard driving cycle, the A5 Sportback g-tron uses less than 4 kilograms (8.8 lb) of gas per 100 km (62.1 mi). In the NEDC cycle, the bivalent natural gas g-tron can travel up to 500 km (310.7 miles). When the tank pressure drops below 10 bar and the natural gas storage in the tanks is 0.6 kg (1.3 lb), the ECM automatically switches to petrol operation. The range on gasoline is an additional 450 km (279.6 miles).

Audi is positioning the A5 Sportback g-tron as a particularly environmentally friendly natural gas vehicle. This is the first car with a long range and almost CO2 neutral.

The new Audi A5 Sportback g-tron will hit showrooms in Germany and other European countries in early 2017.
