CNG-powered KAMAZ conquers new heights

4 January 2017

The participation of a sports NGV truck KAMAZ in the Africa Eco Race international rally-marathon has become a tradition. This is a demonstration of the real capabilities of a car using natural gas as a vehicle fuel.

The next Africa Eco Race rally-marathon, consisting of 12 stages, was held from December 31, 2016 to January 14, 2017. The race started in Monaco and ended at the Pink Lake Dakar. A distinctive feature of the competition was the length of the route, which for the first time was 6,500 km. At the same time, most of the route - 3800 km - was occupied by high-speed sections: the rocky plateaus of Morocco, the sands of Mauritania, the savannah of Senegal.

The pilot of the NGV car was Sergey Kupriyanov, Press Secretary of the Chairman of the Management Committee - Deputy Head of Department, Gazprom.

It is noteworthy that a new brand of gas motor fuel was presented to the public for the first time:

We congratulate the crew of the gas-powered KAMAZ, which not only overcame all stages of the competition, but also entered the top ten of the overall standings and showed the best result among vehicles with a hybrid drive.
